The wing rigger mounting block is the point of contact between the wing rigger assembly and the racing shell. Each Van Dusen racing single has four mounting blocks that support the two wing rigger mounting bars. This order includes the mounting block only. Thumbscrew and set screw (see picture) are not included; they can be ordered separately. Hardware consists of one 1/4 - 20 x 7/8" flat socket head bolt, one 1/4 - 20 x 3/4" socket head bolt, and a small rubber disk (red or black, typically). The disk sits inside the block on top of the socket head screw and prevents the thumbscrew from backing out accidentally during rowing. 

Note (1): Please indicate in the order notes if you have a Traditional shell with wing rigger. It uses similar mounting blocks as the Advantage shell, but the bolts are screwed in from underneath the gunwale instead of from the top. Thus the blocks are threaded differently. 

Note (2): We offer a clear polycarbonate mounting block to prevent corrosion in salt water conditions ($38 each). Please inquire. 

Repair notes: We recommend that to avoid dampness leaking into the hull the screws holding the mounting block to the boat be embedded in thickened epoxy. Make sure the area is completely dry before applying epoxy. Older boats have a wood strip inside the gunwale to receive the bolts, and it can swell when cracks let in water. (Newer boats have G-10 preventing this.) We offer stainless steel threaded inserts if the holes in the gunwale have become too large to receive the bolts.
